Back in the day in the city of Clarksburg West Virginia existed a Hills Department store. I worked
there thru high school, thru college..made a lot of friends, acquired alot of skills working in
layaway, cashier, ready to wear and finally in the office. Hills was like a family to me and I miss
it dearly. I hope Mr. Belcher, Mr Gallagher are still out there some where making people happy.

I was going to college and also had two young girls. I was in charge of the Girls Dept. so it was
great seeing all the new clothes I could get for my girls. I would also take them to the toy aisle
and have them make a list on what they wanted for Christmas and their Birthday. I really wish they
could bring Hills Dept. store back, it was a great store!!!

Just wondering how many from West Michigan are in and out of here. Hills was my first and only
retail stint. I was there for the store opening and there the day the doors closed. I worked
mainly as a cracker - that sure wouldn't make it past the pc police these days. In fact, I am
still haunted by the dreaded 808 form.

Years have gone by since and I've seen people that I use to work with and people who shopped

shop anymore. Walmart does not compare for merchandise or atmosphere and I really do miss it.

I just found this site as I was looking for Ames Dept. stores. I was at Hills from Dec. 1998 to
June 1999, the end as a menswear buyer. I also worked at Ames from 1982-1992. I didn't want to
move around the contry like a nomad, so I changed careers, I do financial planning and investments.
If you need help with your 401k rollover give a shout, for most people it best to move your money
out, so that you can invest it to work better for you.

I was employed with Hills for a year in the early 70's, I left and returned in 1985 and stayed
until Hills closed in 1999. I loved working there. I started in Toys and worked about everywhere
on the floor and finally the registers. Hills was one great place to work and we were like family.
I made many friends over the years and still keep in touch with many of them. There will never be
another place like HILLS. If anyone remembers me, feel free to send an email..

and we had a lot of laughs too. If anyone remembers me feel free to drop me an email.

I read a lot about how good the popcorn was. I was an LPM at store #9 in East Liverpool, Ohio. This
was 1977 to 1982 when I was there. The reason it was so good was the vendor. It came from a company
known as EVEL GADA in Ohio. They grew a special type of corn and they only sold it to HILLS. I
don't know if they are still in business. But I agree. There was none finer! Either then or
now!

Was searching older places in my hometown of Parkersburg, WV on Facebook. Found this website.
Hill's was the 1st job that I held going into my senior year of high school. I worked in the
hardware/housewares departments. I can remember that only a few of us were trained on how to sale
ammo & the paperwork that was associated. This store always had some neat buys. Later when I had
my 1st child, I would take her to Hills to have her portraits made.

in cash. Great idea there because,we would always spend our money there as soon as we got paid.

Wow...would never have guessed a website for Hills! :-D I was a kid growing up in Decatur, AL when
Hills was at it's peak. My memories were the snack bar, Nintendo games, and the 4th of July
fireworks shows.

the house I grew up in was right behind the Hills in Decatur and I remember we used to sit in our
back yard in lawn chairs and watch the fireworks. My Dad would even climb up on the roof to watch.
I wonder if all the Hills stores did that...that was cool

the hole plaza was empty now several stores have come in. But one store was built in the parkinglot
in front of old Hills 36. It seems that it will never leave but the legeonds live on, plus all of
the memories. Hills was the best store and I think that it would have beaten walmart.
